After the globally successful and well-praised game Raji: An ancient epic, Indian game developing company InfinityHead studios is back with another AAA title named Anarchy: Uprising. When it comes to the gaming industry, India is quite the new kid on the block but Anarchy: Uprising has the potential to change the course of the industry and hopefully, it will do so.

The premise:

From the story reveal trailer, it is very clear that the game will set in the year 2065. Kolkata is shown as the capital of India and this is where the story of the game is based on. From the gameplay demo trailer and the story reveal trailer it is very clear that the game is heavily inspired by the game Cyberpunk 2077. The game will follow the journey of a group of young people who must fight against a neo-fascist Government.

This game seems to have a very different approach from the previous entry Raji: An Ancient Epic. It's supposed to be very appealing to Indian gamers because of its open world and landmarks. The story-reveal trailer also shows many famous landmarks native to the state. Some of those are Howrah Bridge, Victoria Memorial Hall, Viswa Bangla gate, etc.

From the story reveal trailer it is clear that the game will follow the journey of a group of young people whose goal is to bring down an extremist government. Set in the distant future, this game also brings out some issues that are predominant even in today's society especially in India. Some of those are; women's safety, unemployment, hunger, and police brutality.

Gameplay:

A very positive thing about this game can be its visuals. The game uses the powerful Unreal Engine.
The Unreal Engine boasts of its power in so many astounding games like Gears Of War, Bioshock, Tom Clancy's Ghost Reckon, Batman: Arkham series, and many. Another game named The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is still loved by gamers worldwide for its photorealistic visuals.
However, Anarchy: Uprising may not be the 'monster of a game' that we are looking for but it surely does not seem to fall short.

The graphics are good standard for a game releasing in 2021. The shadow effects look beautiful, lightning effects are fine and reflections are quite up to the mark. This game also features some good fighting choreography that may be appealing to some gamers. As the game is heavily inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 we may expect to see some cool futuristic weapons in this game.
The cultural references in the game may also be a positive point. At the end of the trailer we see a woman with glowing eyes and particularly one eye in the forehead, that may be a reference to the Hindu goddess Durga.

Pros and cons:

pro-

Envioronment textures- Texture details, depth of field, reflections look really nice.

con-

character models-  The character models do not seem quite realistic. They show limited facial expressions and fall short when compared to environmental details.

Pro-

Locations- The real life locations can attract a certain group of gamers and the open world adds more flavour to it.

Con-

story- The storyline seems to be based on political matters, so it can be offending to a number of people with certain political beliefs.

Closing remarks

  • As the game is the first entry to the new game developing company, it is always best to support the developers by purchasing the game from genuine sellers. Pirating of the game may discourage the developers and that can affect the gaming industry so it is advised to all the concerned to play the genuine copy of the game.
